Hiring Range: $52,686.40 - $69,429.36/Year. It is anticipated the hiring rate offered will be +/- the midpoint range depending on qualifications.

Port Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team! This position will focus on market intelligence and analysis, land use analysis and planning, and operational data analysis and strategy development. The position is inherently interdisciplinary and requires effective cross-departmental collaboration; while providing support to the Lead Planning Analyst within the Market and Strategic Analysis functional area within PCCA’s Planning Department. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets data from various sources within PCCA, including vessel schedules, cargo handling, trade flows, revenues, rail, competitors, commercial and business development, customers, and monthly publications 
  • Follows market forecasts from various research groups and determines possible impact on PCCA development on a regional, national and international level 
  • Prepares clear concise reports, presentations, and updates on market analysis, market trends, and operational insights for presentation to management and other stakeholders to support informed decision making
  • Tracks and evaluates key performance indicators (KPIs) related to PCCA commercial operations
  • Evaluates and presents findings and trends to diverse audiences    
  • Supports multiple PCCA departments with market analysis as the internal expert for market insights and PCCA data
  • Identifies context-appropriate future land use alternatives for available parcels
  • Coordinates with GIS to maintain up-to-date geospatial inventory of PCCA land information and advocates for utilization of GIS tools and capabilities
  • Analyzes operational, financial, and market data to support informed decision-making processes across various PCCA departments
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance Port efficiency and facilitates process improvement with various internal audiences
  • Supports the PCCA executive team with special projects that involve complex issues and analysis that require discretion, keen judgment, and enterprise-level collaboration to meet department and Port-wide goals
  • Organizes and attends meetings, including travel in PCCA vehicle   
  • Adheres to all PCCA policies, promotes, and adheres to the SEAPORT values, maintains good employee relations, encourages, and fosters a helpful environment where teamwork prevails, and assists senior management and office staff where appropriate 
  • Drives vehicles as necessary to complete assigned tasks and works required hours necessary to fulfill department objectives
  • Maintains good relationships with public and government officials, business leaders, developers, local and regional organizations, and the general public
  • CPR certified or the ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
  • Tier 3 status designation 

CANDIDATE PROFILE
The preferred candidate for this position should be an analytical individual with strong and critical thinking skills, have an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and a can-do and solution-oriented attitude. The successful individual should have strong independent work ethic, willingness to work collaboratively to address complex projects, and an eagerness to learn new skills and undertake new professional challenges, with a focus on maintaining optimal integrity in support of the PCCA. They must possess the following:

EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Maritime Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field 
  • Master’s degree in relevant field preferred
  • Experience with quantitative market and decision analytics preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment 
  • Valid driver’s license
EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE
  • Experience collaborating with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Experience exercising good judgement, diplomacy and tact when completing assignments and dealing with people
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and translate findings into actionable recommendations 
  • Proven experience in applying operations research methodologies, mathematical modeling, and data analysis to real-world problems, preferable within a maritime, logistics, or port operations environment 
TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Proficiency in using data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Power Bi, Tableau or other statistical software
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Ability to integrate information from multiple sources to develop creative solutions to complex challenges
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines and to collaborate with a wide range of individuals in diverse disciplines
  • Ability to work independently within a structured environment and to fit well within an energetic and dedicated team
  • Effective interpersonal, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Ability to speak effectively with PCCA staff, stakeholders and public
  • Ability to perform research, evaluate alternatives and provide recommendations
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation 
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined, climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands. Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp/handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
  • Ability to work in a general office environment, with some exposure to the elements when visiting worksites 
  • Ability to operate light-weight highway vehicles and standard office equipment and to work the requisite hours to fulfill position objectives, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
