Environmental Project Manager
Balcones Field Services, LLC (BFS) is looking for a new Senior Project Manager to serve our clients with regulatory permitting and NEPA documentation support for inland, aquatic and marine projects. As a multidisciplinary environmental consulting firm, we support both public and private clients across a variety of industries At BFS, we look out for our client’s best interest, understand and interpret the impact of ever changing environmental regulations, and use our strong technical and communication skills to keep projects moving. We are a small, woman owned firm that values self-driven and responsible professionals that tackle challenges with clients and agencies as a team. Our ideal team member shares these values and has an environmental science, planning, biology, or other related natural science degree with seven to fifteen years of experience managing teams, managing projects, client development, working in the field, and report generation. Experience should also include Section 10/404 permit applications, Section 7 consultation, Phase I/II ESAs, and habitat assessments. Location in the greater Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, or Corpus Christi, Texas area is preferred.
Responsibilities
• Support through field and desktop work a wide variety of environmental compliance projects for marine, aquatic, coastal and inland projects affecting water, protected species habitat, and other natural resources
• Supervise team of environmental scientists both managerially and technically
• Manage projects, including scope and fee creation, project deliverables and milestones, budget management and invoicing
• Take responsibility for creating and managing environmental permit applications, NEPA documents (CE/EA/EIS), biological assessments, and environmental site assessments (Phase I and II)
• Client management and marketing to identify new project opportunities
• Lead field work associated with the collection of natural resource data using ArcGIS Fieldmap or similar programs and creating figures to display field collected data
• Perform other duties such as creating safety plans, attending marketing events, and assisting with small business development and others as assigned
Qualifications
• MS Office experience
• GIS data collection and ArcPro analysis and figure development or equivalent experience or training
• Bachelor's degree in natural mor physical or closely related field
• Knowledge of wetland delineation, field investigation techniques, and agency coordination requirements
• Must be able to complete field site visits and record natural resource data in conditions that include sloped terrain, thick vegetation, and inclement (hot, cold, rain, sleet) weather in remote locations
• Ability to identify plants and recognize and classify habitat types.
• Training and/or experience with application of environmental laws and regulations (Clean Water Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, Rivers and Harbors Appropriation Act, etc)
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without assistance
• Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone, and email
• Must be able to effectively work in minimally supervised and/or unsupervised environments
• Work hours other than 8 to 5 occasionally to take advantage of optimum weather and protected resource restrictions
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle day or night
• Travel may be required at time
