Ribbon Cutting for the National Alliance on Mental Illness-Greater Corpus Christi
NAMI Greater Corpus Christi (NAMI-GCC) is an affiliate of the largest grassroots mental health organization in the United States, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI-GCC’s dedicated volunteer leaders work tirelessly to raise awareness and provide essential education, advocacy, and support for people in the Coastal Bend area impacted by mental health conditions. We offer no-cost support groups and educational classes for individuals living with a mental health condition, and for their family members as well.
“We are so excited about the growth and positive changes happening at NAMI Greater Corpus Christi! We have a hard-working team with a lot of grit and heart. Our mission is to provide support, education, and advocate for people with mental health conditions and those who are impacted by them. Our team relentlessly does that day after day. And they do it without pay; because this is what sets their heart on fire. I couldn’t be prouder!” ~ Angela Horner, Affiliate Leader & Program Director
NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Greater Corpus Christi started in 2015, officially becoming an affiliate in March 2016. Since then, the organization has helped thousands and became known to those they’ve helped as the “best kept secret in Corpus Christi.” That has changed in the past year; NAMI GCC volunteers have worked hard to become the go-to mental health organization when someone needs a supplement to their wellness plan, like the free support groups and classes NAMI offers. Whether it is a call from a person needing help in a crisis, or the media has questions about mental health and the various awareness months and weeks, NAMI GCC is here to help.
