We are very happy to have opened in Corpus Christi – it has been a long time coming. Thank you so much for the great Grand Opening week and we look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with the community of Corpus Christi. This is our 22nd store and the community has been so good to us; it is obvious from the feedback we have received that a number of folks were familiar with our South Texas Custard franchise out of San Antonio. Our expansion to the Rio Grande Valley a few years back has been something that we are very excited about.
Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers/ Fast-casual restaurant concept Freddy’s is a family-friendly, fast-casual restaurant concept. Fast-casual concepts are typically associated with high-quality food and service, while providing a relaxed and casual environment. We like to say we’re a good mix between a full-service restaurant and a fast food place. Menu items at Freddy’s are cooked to order and served fresh within minutes. Guests will initially pick up their order from the counter when it’s ready, but team members and management will often walk around the restaurant checking on guests, offering to take trays out of the way, etc. What does Freddy’s serve? We’re known for our cooked-to-order steakburgers, Vienna Beef hot dogs and crispy shoestring fries, as well as dessert treats prepared with chocolate or vanilla frozen custard that is freshly churned throughout the day in each restaurant. What is a steakburger? Every Freddy’s steakburger starts with premium lean ground beef that’s pressed thin to create deliciously crispy edges. Top two patties with Freddy’s Famous Seasoning, two slices of melting cheese, mustard, onion slices and crunchy pickle planks all on a fresh, perfectly-toasted bun and you have the Freddy’s Original Double (a Guest favorite). What is frozen custard? Freddy’s frozen custard is freshly churned throughout the day in each restaurant. It’s denser, richer and creamier than traditional ice cream due to a churning process that eliminates excess air and ice crystals. There are 30 different mix-in options, including syrups, fruit toppings, candy and nuts. If you choose the mix-ins, your custard is prepared one of two ways: a sundae or a concrete. A sundae, of course, is just like it sounds. In a concrete, the toppings are blended into the frozen custard to create a thick and delicious treat. A popular specialty is the Signature Turtle (vanilla frozen custard, hot fudge, hot caramel, toasted pecans, whipped cream and a cherry). Atmosphere and culture Freddy’s brings to life the America of the late 1940s and early 1950s, but we add modern conveniences like digital menu boards and a mix of modern music to make it a comfortable dining experience for guests of all ages. The restaurant is named for Freddy Simon, a 92-year-old World War II veteran. His family values, hospitality, kindness and tradition of service are the foundation of the restaurant. The photos that hang on the walls follow him from infancy and adolescent years to his time in the service and post-war era family life. Growth plans There are currently more than 300 Freddy’s restaurants nationwide in 32 states. We’re always looking for great sites and hope to continue making Freddy’s a more convenient option for area residents.
Freddy’s offers its guests a late 1940s and early 1950s style family-friendly atmosphere paired with a selection of cooked-to-order high-quality food, including its signature cooked-to-order lean ground beef steakburgers, Vienna Beef hot dogs, shoestring fries and freshly churned frozen custard treats. Each location honors namesake Freddy Simon, a decorated WWII veteran, by adorning the restaurant walls with photographs of Freddy and his family – giving a nostalgic touch to the family-owned concept.
