Designing Healthy Communities Luncheon
*************************************SOLD OUT*****************************************
Corpus Christi and Communities around the nation are facing a disturbing increase in diabetes, obesity, heart disease and other often preventable diseases. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and public health officials increasingly recognize the link between the design and planning the of the places in which we live, work, learn and play within healthy communities.
Come join the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Martinez, and the American Institute of Architects to kick start a community conversation about how to design and public policy can shape a healthier Corpus Christi. Our luncheon keynote speaker is Dr. Richard Jackson, a UCLA professor and pediatrician, who is a well-known expert on the link between design and public health. An honorary AIA member, Dr. Jackson is host of the PBS Series "Designing Healthy Communities".
Additional remarks will be provided by Corpus Christi architect Elizabeth Chu Richter, FAIA, national president of the American Institute of Architects and AIA EVP/CEO Robert Ivy, FAIA.
