Beyond the Falling STAAR: A Workshop on How Schools are Graded
Join Raise Your Hand Texas for a powerful, hands-on workshop designed to expose the truth about Texas's A-F school accountability system.
In 2025, the legislature technically 'eliminated the STAAR' but left a system intact that still heavily prioritizes standardized test scores. This drives test prep, frustrates teachers and families, and fails to give a meaningful picture of school quality.
During this interactive experience, you will step into the shoes of a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) and design your ideal middle school by making critical decisions about curriculum, staffing, and programming. After building your school, you will receive its official TEA A-F rating, revealing how your thoughtful, quality-focused decisions are judged by a system fixated on one metric.
This workshop is designed to motivate and equip you to advocate for real change. Build momentum with us for our mass call-to-action to all state legislative candidates. Come find out what the real score is and what comes next!
Who should attend? Parents, civic and business leaders, realtors, and anyone who cares about how local public schools are rated.
