DESCRIPTION:Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is hosting the En El Frente exhibition which explores the design and impact of Chicano independent publications in the 1960s and 1970s. The exhibition runs Monday\, Aug. 28 through Friday\, Oct. 6\, at the Weil Gallery in the TAMU-CC Center for the Arts. The Weil Gallery is free and open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. \n\n \n\nExhibit visitors will have the opportunity to engage with rare archival materials\, immersive installations\, and thought-provoking displays that demonstrate the power of Chicano publication design in challenging societal norms and driving social transformation. \n\n \n\nAn opening reception will be held on Thursday\, Sept. 28\, from 5-7:30 p.m.\, and a Chicano publication panel will be held on the same day from 5:30-6:30 p.m. \n\n \n\nThe exhibition is the culmination of extensive research\, showcasing the historical and contemporary significance of Chicano publication design and it aims to inspire future designers\, scholars\, and students by uncovering and highlighting the revolutionary visual work of this transformative era.\n\n \n\nThis exhibition was generously sponsored by the Humanities Texas Mini Grant\, TAMU-CC Research Enhancement Grant\, and Arts and Culture Commission of Corpus Christi. Exhibition design and production by Joshua Duttweiler and Alexandria Canchola. Additional exhibition design by Chris Gonzales '24\, Katelynn Phelan '24\, and Eric Davila '22.
